Introduction to Hotel Accounting

Students are introduced to the terminology, concepts and principles of hotel accounting.  Students will learn to prepare, interpret and analyze financial statements. Topics include: the accounting cycle, the uniform system of accounts for the lodging industry, accounting as an information system, introduction to accounting theory, income measurement, hotel record keeping procedures, journals, ledgers, cash control, investments and balance sheet equations, receivables, inventories and liabilities.
